During the June heatwave, I was near Bordeaux, one of the hottest regions at that time. I had never been so desperate to find shades from trees and clouds. Yet there wasn't a single cumulus cloud to soften the intense, blazing sun. Every day, I analyzed satellite images, and there were virtually no clouds for an entire week. Whether I was walking down the street or driving, even the smallest patch of shade from a tree felt like a true relief — though all too rare.
France experienced two episodes of heatwaves in May and June 2026, with daily maximum temperatures exceeding 30 °C across most of the country and some days even surpassing 40 °C. This video will allow you to follow the temperature changes day by day and compare the intensity of the heat across different regions.
